Chicago and the Rain explores how Chicago’s climate is changing in a series of watercolors and digital videos of altered news reports. As the atmosphere warms, Chicago and the surrounding area will be subject to more extreme participation events, leading to urban flooding beyond the capacity of Chicago’s water management system. Chicago and the Rain incorporates a variety of visual approaches, from images of scientific data and news headlines, to possible solutions including greenscaping and prairie reclamation, to the unlikely utopian future of gondolas on waterways of Chicago.

This project was sponsored as part of the Third Coast Disrupted: Artists + Scientists on Climate group show and year-long conversation. You can read more about Third Coast Disrupted here and you can read more about Chicago and the Rain here.
